Atomically Site Synergistic Effects of Dual-Atom Nanozyme Enhances Peroxidase-like Properties


The search for effective and versatile strategies to regulate the electronic structure of atomically dispersed nanoenzymes with superior catalytic properties is very attractive, but also challenging. A simple "formamide condensation and carbonization" strategy was developed to create monoatom (M 1-NC; 6 types) and diatom (M1 / M2-NC; 13) metal-nitrogen-sink carbon nanoenzymes (M = Fe, Co, Ni, Mn, Ru, Cu) to reveal peroxidase (POD) -like activity. The Fe1Co1-NC two-atomic nanoenzyme and Fe1-N4 / Co1-N4 coordination showed the highest POD-like activity. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations show that the Co atomic sites jointly affect the d-band center position of the Fe atomic site and serve as a second reaction center, which contributes to better POD-like activity. Finally, Fe1Co1 NC has been shown to effectively inhibit tumor growth both in vitro and in vivo, suggesting that diatomic synergy is an effective strategy for developing artificial nanoenzymes as novel nanocatalytic therapies.
