On the basis of these in vitro results, HEMA-SBMA hydrogel was implanted subcutaneously into C57BL / 6 mice, and the in vivo tissue response to hydrogel implantation as determined by histological analysis (H & E and MTS staining) showed a reduced foreign body response.
